Feedback From Our Residents & Their Families

My mum moved in just before Covid-19 hit. I couldn’t ask for better care and attention to detail afforded to her. Many thanks to the managers, nurses, staff and kitchen for everything you do. It really is much appreciated by our family.

Tess Beck (Annerley Aged Care Residence)

Staff always happy, greet you with a smile. My mother, a resident for the last 4 years has always been cared and looked after exceptionally well, she is contented and has no negative feelings for any of the carers what is most important.

Craig Appleby (Labrador Aged Care Residence)

I have both my parents living at TriCare Toowoomba in a companion room. They are very settled and happy, love the care they get from all the staff, the activities and the food. They don’t want to be anywhere else. I have found the property nice and clean, uncluttered, welcoming for everyone (including the family dog), well maintained outdoor garden areas, and the staff are like family.

Frequently Asked Questions

An Aged Care home, also known as a nursing home or residential Aged Care facility, provides accommodation and health care for seniors who can no longer continue living in their own home.

The reasons a person cannot stay at home are varied:

  • Unable to manage at home without help
  • Increasing pressure on the carer
  • An emergency
  • Loneliness
  • Disability
  • Illness

Seniors in Aged Care homes get assistance with day-to-day tasks like meals, cleaning and laundry. Qualified nursing staff provide 24-hour health care, including showering, toileting, dressing, grooming, continence management, medication management and wound care.

Many TriCare Aged Care Residences also provide complex and specialised types of health and medical care, such as Dementia Care, Palliative Care and rehabilitation.

The Australian Government subsidises a range of Aged Care homes around Australia. As a result, seniors can access affordable care and support services when needed. The subsidies are paid directly to the Aged Care home.

The amount of funding is based on:

  • your care assessment, using a tool called the Aged Care Funding Instrument or ACFI
  • your personal contribution, using an Income and Assets Assessment

Subsidised Aged Care homes must meet Aged Care Quality Standards to receive government funding

To find out if you are eligible for any of the Government-supported aged care services, call My Aged Care on 1800 200 422 or visit www.myagedcare.gov.au

In standard residential care, the Australian Government and Centrelink set a basic daily fee based on an individual assessment of a resident’s income and assets. Centrelink conducts this financial assessment prior to a senior’s entry into a residential Aged Care facility, or shortly after.

Additional fees and charges apply for extra service residences, where seniors can choose lifestyle extras and hotel-like services.
